Our newest member has taken on the role of Lead Trainer, in order to provide you with the latest in fitness, training, and body sculpting techniques. He has had an amazing journey that was the catalyst to him dedicating his entire life to health and fitness, and he has shared his story below in hopes of inspiring and motivating you, whatever your personal journey may be.

My name is Arman Sandhu and I am 19 years old. I am currently studying kinesiology in hopes of continuing into a career in physiotherapy.

At the age of 13 I was diagnosed with large B cell lymphoma cancer. I went through extensive chemo therapy in a compressed time of 6 months, with a total of 6 chemo rounds. The result was me recovering cancer free, and this clean bill of health is what ultimately led me to my fitness journey.

During my remission I found it crucial to begin building myself back up into a stronger, and healthier person. As I gained my strength and energy back, I was able to get myself into the gym, and at the age of 15 I began to weight train. As a very young and inexperienced individual, I taught and educated myself about proper nutrition and exercise, which over the years has resulted in me changing my over all physique, but also taught me self discipline.

Some ways that fitness has changed my life was that it taught me how to live a lifestyle that includes being stronger physically, emotionally, and mentally. My advice to anyone who is looking into changing their lifestyle in any way or even to become more active is to first set your goals. Once you have set your goals, make it your number 1 priority and do anything and everything to accomplish them. Every minute, every second, should be dedicated to accomplishing your goal. You must do everything in your power to protect that dream, that way the dream will become your reality. I believe if you are able to do that, you will be able to accomplish anything in life.

To tell you a little bit about my current routine, my favourite healthy food to prepare would be a 10oz New York strip loin steak, cooked medium over a bed of brown rice and mixed veggies, and drizzled with peppercorn sauce. My favourite types of workouts are based around bodybuilding splits, but I also enjoy occasionally powerlifting. My overall fitness goals are to maintain a sufficient amount of physical activity (weightlifting, cardio), but more specifically I’m training to gain lean muscle mass while keeping an aesthetic figure. What motivates me to work towards these goals is to see how far I have come from where I started, and to continue it on for the rest of my life.
